Reviews of the Best & Worst Places To Purchase Perfume Online

It is one of the exciting things about buying fragrances and perfumes to be able to smell hundreds of different scents when you walk into a perfumery. At least once, your nose screamed even if you went there with the intention of buying a particular perfume. You would remember shopping for a long time, since it was a ritual.

Today, times and ways of life have changed this process, and most people buy perfumes online.

They are limited to discovering something they didn’t even know existed, but it is faster, and it is often less expensive.

Online fragrance purchases have the biggest downside of getting fakes. In the long run, this can lead to severe skin conditions, especially if one uses a fake as they are not tested on human skin.

In this post, we will cover where you can purchase perfumes and fragrances online, which places are the most trustworthy, and which to avoid.

My personal recommendation is to always buy your fragrance from a trustworthy local perfumery before we begin. The reason for this is that you have the unique opportunity to try the fragrance first, test it on your skin, see how it performs on you, and decide whether to purchase it after that.

Which are the best places to buy perfumes online?

You can buy perfumes and fragrances online from all of these sites with confidence – I have tested all of them personally and can confirm that you will always get an original bottle, and if you are lucky, you can often find a good deal.

My personal choice for buying all fragrances online is FragranceNet.

In addition to offering good deals and discounted prices, FragranceNet also offers free shipping on orders over $75. Additionally, you get free shipping on all orders over $100 and there are many coupons available all the time.

The company has been in the business since 1997 and works with more than 40,000 beauty, makeup, haircare, skincare, and aromatherapy brands.

We offer tracking for orders that take 4 – 15 business days to process.

Over the years, Fragrance.Net has served many happy customers and is one of the largest, legit fragrance online shops.

They promise to provide you with an original bottle of your desired perfume.

Our Fragrance is part of Fragrance.Net’s affiliate program, which means that if you buy any of the fragrances from our links, we receive a small commission. Getting your fragrance through our link would mean the world to us if you wanted to support our website.

As an alternative to FragranceNet, Amazon is also a great option if you want your fragrance on time and legit. It’s especially true if you’re a Prime member from the US – some of the fragrances listed on their website can be delivered to your doorstep within 24 hours.

Amazon is great because it allows you to find genuine customer reviews and actual photos, so you can be certain no scam will find your wallet.

In my experience, I haven’t seen any scams about fake fragrances on Amazon, but you never know.

In our reviews of fragrances, you’ll find links to Amazon, but rest assured that those are 100% legitimate, since I personally investigated the product.

The majority of perfume houses open seller profiles and sell their fragrances there, so besides shipping time, it makes no difference whether you buy it from Amazon or from the brand’s actual official website.

Notino

They’re one of the biggest fragrance and cosmetics resellers in Europe, so you can trust them.

In addition to offering perfumes and other beauty products, Notino is a great choice because you can get a refund within 90 days if something’s wrong.

You’ll be more than satisfied with their shipping time if you’re from Europe. They also have 24/7 customer service.

Notino’s products have never let me down and their customer service is always great.

Sephora

In-store experiences at Sephora and extravagant stores make customers feel special. They also have a lot to offer when it comes to fragrances online.

How personalized Sephora’s user accounts are is my favorite thing.

Depending on your beauty traits, the beauty advisor will make recommendations. You can also get a refund if you used the product gently.

FragranceX

When it comes to fragrances, FragranceX is a lifesaver. FragranceX usually has deals on specific scents when a brand discounts them.

Over the years, FragranceX has proven to be a trustworthy source, as shown by their customer reviews. I’ve never had any problems with their fragrances, and they’ve always arrived in great shape.

Additionally, FragranceX offers a loyalty program, so if you stick with them, you’ll get tons of great benefits.

You’ll get free shipping on orders over $35 and it’ll take 2-5 days to get to you.

Scentbird

There is also a mini preference quiz available through Scentbird in addition to its great reviews and customer service.

Once you answer the questions about your fragrance preferences, you’ll get Scentbird recommendations about what you might like!

With the subscription package, you get one, 8ml spray (about a month’s worth of daily spritzing) from over 500 designer and niche fragrances. You can change your subscription frequency if monthly isn’t your thing.

First-month subscribers also get a free fragrance sample, which is pretty cool.

There’s no way you can go wrong with this online shop.

Ulta

A legit reseller with great customer reviews and a great loyalty program, Ulta is great.

If you’re part of the Ulta community, you’ll get lots of little gifts, and if you pay with your credit card, you can return any product you don’t like, even if you don’t have a receipt.

Ulta also filters its fragrance options by scent types: spicy, floral, sweet, etc. If you’re already familiar with your fragrance orientation, this is pretty handy.

Scent Beauty

Although Scent Beauty is one of the newest online shops, it’s proven really trustworthy so far.

They offer regular fragrances and perfumes from celebrities and influencers, as well as their own Scent Beauty scents. Don’t forget to check them out!

Additionally, Scent Beauty sells natural brand essentials, so basically what you find in their catalog isn’t available anywhere else.

Their product pages are nicely organized, with helpful descriptions of fragrances. You won’t regret it.

Target

There are a lot of items you can buy at Target, including fragrances, since it is an established store that sells all kinds of products. You can also find great deals and coupons on their website.

As of 2018, they opened their first store in Fort Smith and Texarkana, so you’ve probably bought some of their wines there.

Luckyscent

It has been our experience that Luckyscent is a trustworthy source that offers some great extra benefits to their customers.

There is a wide range of home scents available from big-name mainstream companies to smaller, niche companies. If you’re more interested in samples, Luckyscent offers an extensive selection.

Furthermore, if you spend more than 150$, they will gift you some free samples as well. One helpful fact – they created a glossary explaining the most common fragrance terms.

It will take between 1-12 business days for your order to arrive, depending on where you live and how you choose to ship. It is possible to order Next Day Air* if you need it right away.

Online mall

If you read Net-a-Porter’s reviews, you’ll see that most customers have issues with them. It’s not only about the authenticity of their products, but also about other business stuff.

Customers aren’t getting their refunds, getting their products damaged, getting goods in plastic bags, and their customer service is terrible.

Though I haven’t bought anything from them, a lot of their customers say their products aren’t real.

Hence, I wouldn’t recommend Net-a-Porter as a trustworthy source since there are so many other online shops that have better customer service, sell 100% genuine fragrances, and do their job better.

 Macy’s stores

Similarly to Net-a-Porter, Macy’s stores have pretty poor customer feedback, especially when it comes to in-store customer service.

Additionally, many people have had bad experiences when they bought fake, weaker versions of their favorite perfumes when they bought a bottle of their desired scent.

Especially if Macy’s is your go-to store, I suggest staying away from their fragrances, as poor customer service and unattended shipping may cause bottles to be broken in the transport, which again is an issue, since the refund and overall experience may not be something to brag about.

What is the importance of buying perfumes online?

It is not only a waste of money to buy a fake fragrance, but it is also unsafe, especially when ordering from an unrecognized retailer.

Despite not being FDA approved and not being tested on humans, fake fragrances can cause serious skin reactions.

It is a fact that I have personally been a loyal customer of FragranceNet and Amazon, and I have never had any bad experiences with the products or with their customer service. In addition to their on-time delivery policy, they also offer excellent refund policies.

As a matter of fact, if you want to be 100% sure that that you are getting 100% legit bottles, there are many stores I mentioned above like FragranceX, Sephora, and others that can be trusted.

Ian Gary

Ian Gary I am a passionate lover of perfume, however I currently reside in a rural area of the Bronx, New York, which is quite a distance from any nearby perfume shops. If you’re curious about the credentials I bring to the table as the author of this blog, the answer is straightforward: I have none. I just like perfume.

I like to mix between wearing men’s, women’s, and unisex fragrances. Woods, incense, citrus, flowers, spices, vetiver, and green notes are some of my absolute favourites in fragrance. I have a strong preference for chypre fragrances, as well as anything else that contains oakmoss. I am not really fond of patchouli or amber, and with a few notable exceptions, I don’t particularly care for perfumes that are very “clean,” oceanic smells, or overly sweet gourmand-dessert type perfumes.

I also have a serious problem with expensive chocolates and teas, and I waste a significant amount of time online, where I primarily read the blogs of other people.
