Versace The Dreamer Full Review in 2022

July 18, 2022 Jojo Hennessey

The Dreamer scent by Versace was one of the most popular fragrances in the ’90s and even today, it remains one of the best sellers. This amazing scent has a long and rich history that will bring a lot of memories to many people, which makes it almost an evergreen perfume.

A fragrance offering a hint of tobacco, called Dreamer, was launched by Dolce & Gabbana in 1996 as the answer to a popular fragrance of the same time, Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme.

It was made by Jean-Pierre Bethouart who decided to make it a bit more wearable and better overall than D&G in the end. As opposed to Pour Homme from Dolce & Gabanna, Versace decided to add a sweet note to tobacco, which quickly won the hearts of many people and made the fragrance very popular.

There was a period in the 90’s when it was the signature scent of bad boys, mafias, and bosses all over the world, especially in Belgrade (Serbia), where it was so popular that it barely had any competition, because it was so popular.

I am going to be reviewing Versace The Dreamer in full detail in this article, and you will find out exactly how it smells, when it is appropriate to wear it, as well as whether it is suitable for you to wear.

Do you know what Versace The Dreamer smells like?

It is a very synthetic, powdery, and sweet scent from Versace. It has been reformulated many times since 1996, and therefore this current version, which you can purchase right now, smells quite a bit different from the original scent.

It is characterized by an aggressive opening, a harsh shock bomb of sweetness combined with lavender, despite the fact that the late versions of the scent do not have any lavender notes at all.

As it dries, you will notice that it gets softer and softer, and you’ll be able to smell tobacco and vanilla from a mile away. It will actually turn out to be a much more pleasant experience as it dries down.

As a result of the composition changes and differences that exist between today’s version and the 1996 version, the notes have been completely changed, but manipulated in such a way that they maintain the original scent while modifying them. Just like with Acqua Di Gio, the Versace The Dreamer of today (1) is a product that has been reformulated many times and is still amazingly effective for some people. The ingredients for Versace The Dreamer are as follows:

Top notes:

  • Juniper
  • Tarragon
  • Artemisia

Heart notes:

  • Iris
  • Lily
  • Flax

Base notes:

  • Amber
  • Tobacco blossom

There is a lot of admiration for Versace, as they managed to make these notes and their aroma chemicals smell almost as good as old Dreamer. After it has fully opened, you are able to smell a strong scent of tobacco coming from the base, followed by a dominant scent of fresh sweet lavender, which is actually a floral note in this perfume.

Aside from its amazing scent, many people consider The Dreamer to be their signature scent and put it at the top of their list.

What is the lifespan of Versace The Dreamer?

There is no doubt that Versace The Dreamer has a decent longevity and that it lasts for about 5-6 hours, as long as the projection is the strongest for the first half hour or so, and then it completely disappears off your skin until the fade is complete.

I believe that it is widely known that fragrances that are old such as this do not usually perform well because they have gone through so many reformulations over the years and are heavily diluted. It is clear why manufacturers are doing this, they are trying to keep the original price, they want to reduce production costs and invest in new products. The Dreamer was originally made with real tobacco, however it now has only notes of tobacco blossoms.

Versace The Dreamer is an iconic fragrance with a long history that has been selling well for a long time and is still one of the most popular fragrances in the world today.

Versace The Dreamer – When To Wear It?

This Versace The Dreamer fragrance has a distinctive tobacco feeling to it and the best time to wear it is at night during the middle of the winter. It is great for wearing at parties, clubbing, and even for a night out on the town. It will definitely stand out in the crowd.

During the colder months of the year, the season will definitely be the most appropriate for it; fall and spring will serve as ideal months to wear it. In the summer, you can wear it too, but only at night, because high temperatures during the day will cause the sweetness to be a little too intense. During the winter months, I wouldn’t recommend wearing The Dreamer because it will have very little effect – very cold temperatures won’t allow it to open and dry nicely, and you won’t be able to express all its beautiful chords.

There is always the possibility of your personal opinion, so test it out, see what works best for you, listen to what people around you have to say, and you can pretty much never go wrong!

When it comes to Versace The Dreamer, how many sprays are enough to get the desired results?

I would suggest spraying Versace The Dreamer on 5-6 times over the area.

By doing this, you will be able to allow the perfume to open properly and it won’t have a negative effect on your surroundings.

It is still okay to apply fewer than 5-6 sprays, but it really depends on how you like it. If you are going to the club, then you should try spraying six times, and if you are going on a date, then four will do the trick. Do not be afraid to experiment with it, you can’t go wrong!

Can I wear Versace The Dreamer? Is it the right choice for me?

The Versace The Dreamer is as perfect as it can get if you are a beginner when it comes to fragrances, just starting with your collection and you are looking for something that you can wear in a club, for dinner, or on a date night, then it is absolutely the fragrance you need.

In addition, there are a few other factors that you should also consider before deciding whether or not The Dreamer is the right fragrance for you.

As with all popular fragrances that have been at the top for decades, you need to know that you will smell exactly the same as a lot of other people out there. If that is okay with you, then you can buy it. If you are looking for a more unique scent then you should keep looking.

I would also recommend you to reconsider getting this fragrance if you are looking for something that will give a punch (not only on opening), more aggressive, the smell that will project feet away and scream your name at you.

If you are looking for a scent that gives you a bit of privacy, but is still punchy and dirty enough to create an impression of power, then The Dreamer is for you.

What are the most frequently asked questions about our services?

It comes as no surprise that when people hear about a fragrance that has been on the market for over 20 years, there is a lot of questions they have, especially when they are just getting to know about it. So in this segment, we are going to answer those questions.

Can Versace The Dreamer be worn by both men and women?

Versace the Dreamer is not a unisex fragrance; it belongs to the category of fragrances for men, not for women.

As tobacco and amber are combined with a generally synthetic smell, this is mostly suited for men, since it lacks the soft side, which is needed to open properly on the skin of women.

I’m not the first person to smell The Dreamer on a girl, but honestly, it just doesn’t seem to make any sense because even those who don’t know what The Dreamer smells like, when they smell it, they immediately say that it’s a men’s fragrance. It’s so obvious.

What is the packaging, what is the size?

There is just one size available when it comes to Versace The Dreamer, and that is 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters.

In my opinion, those who have owned this scent for a long time know that a 50ml size of it would be more than just right.

Versace The Dreamer has been discontinued. Is it still available?

Versace The Dreamer is not a discontinued product; as of the last update of this article (January 2022), Versace The Dreamer is still being produced and sold today.

In spite of the fact that it has gone through a number of reformulations, it is still in production.

Synopsis

Courtasy / Versace The Dreamer

As many of you have told me, The Dreamer used to be the scent everyone wore back in the day and, whenever they smell that beautiful smell, it brings back beautiful memories – and that’s what perfume should be about!

‘The Dreamer’ proudly represents a time when fragrances and perfumes were in the midst of one of the greatest expansions of their history as new notes were introduced and new ways of making fragrances were invented at this time.

In addition to the fact that it smells beautiful, it has a moderate longevity, a not so great projection and sillage, but it still does an amazing job of attracting compliments.

You should definitely invest in The Dreamer even if you are just starting to collect, as it will definitely be a piece of history in the future that you will be glad you had.

If you want to use a fragrance for night time but you don’t want to spend too much, The Dreamer might be just the fragrance for you.

Jojo Hennessey

While I am passionate about perfume, I live in a rural area of the Bronx, New York, far from any perfume stores that are close by. It is straightforward: I do not have any credentials to provide as the author of this blog. I just love perfume, that’s all I have to offer.

In addition to wearing male, female, and unisex fragrances, I also enjoy wearing perfumes containing woods, incense, citrus, flowers, spices, vetiver, and green notes. As well as chypre perfumes, I enjoy fragrances with oakmoss, especially chypres. Patchouli and amber are not particularly appealing to me, and with some notable exceptions, perfumes that smell very clean, oceanic, or are too sweet are not particularly appealing to me.

I also have an addiction to expensive chocolates and teas, and I spend a great deal of time browsing the Internet, reading blogs primarily written by others.
