In this review, we will discuss Versace Eros Eau De Toilette, the fragrance that has come out in 2012 and still sits on the throne as “King of clubbing”- but is it? The competition is getting more fierce with every passing year, but some fragrances never go out of style – Versace Eros is still one of them.
We bear in mind that the inspiration for this magnificent fragrance comes from Greek mythology, or to be more specific, from Eros, the Greek god of love. It’s unnecessary to say that a background story like this one leaves an historic afterimage and people’s expectations are quickly raised.
There is no doubt that Eros is one of the fragrances that have been hyped even before they were released, and to a certain point, it has been able to fulfill people’s wishes.
The fragrance of Eros Versace has always been admired and loved by a lot of generations, especially the younger generation, and even though Eros EDP and Eros Flame came out a short while ago, Eros EDT is still one of the fragrances that a lot of people prefer.
Although many people think that designer fragrances don’t last for too long as far as their uniqueness is concerned, since they don’t have a story behind them, Versace Eros (along with other designers like Dior Sauvage or even Acqua Di Gio) is still being sold like crazy and people LOVE it!
As part of this post, we will discuss Versace Eros in the most realistic and objective light, based on my personal experience from being a consumer of this clubbing fragrance for over a couple of years now.

Versace Eros – What does it smell like?
The fragrance of Versace Eros is described as a fresh, lively, sexy, and aromatic fougere, with a strong presence of mint notes.
Versace has stated that these are the notes that he received.
I would like to highlight the following points:
- Mint
- Green Apple
- Lemon
Heart notes are:
- Tonka Bean
- Ambroxan
- Geranium
Base notes are:
- Madagascar Vanilla
- Virginian Cedar
- Vetiver
- Oakmass
The Versace Eros fragrance has an intense opening, full of freshness and sweetness that comes from a combination of the perfect blend of green apple, mint, and the remarkable scent of tonka bean. As it dries down, it evolves into a vanilla-based, loud and expansive composition with a light touch of greenish and woody notes as well.
In what I can only call a masterpiece by Aurelian Guichard, the nose behind this Greek God marvel created the perfect blend of cooling effect with a cool effect of mint in this fragrance. While the note of lemon couldn’t be easily validated, the expansive nature of lemon gave this fragrance a sense of spaciousness.
For some people, the opening of Eros may seem like it sits really flat on the skin, but as soon as it starts drying down, it happens to be a completely different mythology – vanilla is coming through in heavy doses, the scent becomes sweeter and more concentrated, and it becomes a really recognizable scent.
Despite the fact that the base notes in Eros contain two different types of Cedarwood, in my opinion, the vanilla and tonka bean notes took the lead and the woodiness of this fragrance is something that it lacks. However, that is not a bad thing at all, because this fragrance still has that sexy and playful vibe to it, so it makes a perfect scent for a night out in the club.
In my opinion, once Eros has dried down completely, it turns into a perfume that has a sweet scent that smells like bubblegum and I have heard that many people get the same feeling. I also smelled something like a mandarin with the addition of apple that made this perfume really sweet and cocky.
Having said that, I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for the way in which all notes are perfectly blended with each other, the composition is linear and soft, not a single note is stepping out, and on top of that – it’s a real compliment getter.
There is nothing like Versace Eros to get you noticed. It is an inviting, funny, friendly, sexy, and cool scent, it will introduce you before you speak and will grab everyone’s attention wherever you step your foot.
There are many times that I have heard people complain about the fact that Eros EDT is lacking in a uniqueness and that because it has been worn for so many years, everyone is now able to detect it without any prior knowledge. Would I agree with that statement? There are a lot of tonka bean based fragrances and in terms of notes, Eros has some similarities to other designer fragrances, but in my opinion, no one managed to create a fragrance that has such a quirky and playful composition crafted from all those notes. It has a reason why we call it the king of clubbing, there is a reason for it to be so popular.
What is the shelf life of Versace Eros?

In past years, Versace Eros EDT had a good projection and longevity and could have lasted up to 10 hours, whereas the opening projection lasted up to 2 hours, according to the people reports for previous years. Both projection and longevity of the newest batches seem to have decreased.
It has always been a pleasure for me to use Eros EDT since I started using it years ago, and my bottle from 2017 still stands as an example of the quality of this perfume. That same batch lasts me for 10 to 11 hours without a doubt, and it spreads very well within the first hour.
It has been a wild topic when it comes to Eros, but one thing that many people have pointed out is that many people are suspecting that it has become a victim of reformulation – did they decrease the concentration, or did they change something in terms of composition? In either case, people were able to smell trouble heading their way.
There have been many cases of designer perfumes being thrown under the bus and being reformulated. In many cases, the outcome of the reformulation was not so great, so people were frustrated, especially those who had used the same fragrance for many years. In this sense, Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani is a perfect example.
While I’m sure it has been reformulated (a few times) since it was first released, the longevity and performance are still there when compared to other fragrances available today.
Versace Eros: When Is The Right Time To Wear It?
It is a certain that Versace Eros is a fragrance that can be worn all year long with a slight tendency to be more suitable for colder days. In general, you can wear it anytime of the year. On an occasion, it is a great fragrance for clubbing nights out.
It has been mentioned a number of times in my blog that this fragrance has a playful, sexy, youthful vibe, which makes it pretty limited when it comes to its versatility. It’s not made for the office or for the gym, or for a casual daily routine, but rather it’s made purely for the darkness of the night and the lights of the club.
Aside from that obvious fact, there is one more noteworthy truth to be mentioned about this fragrance: it is clearly geared toward the younger generation. It is difficult for me to envision an older gentleman pulling off this fragrance and feeling confident and seductive, as it doesn’t smell like a rich, luxurious, ravish scent, which is something you would expect from a mature man.
With the sweetness and the aromatic nuances it has, I think this fragrance is more of a colder-weather type of scent. I think the sweetness and the aromatic nuances just fit better with leathery jackets and stylish scarves in the cooler months.
I have also wore it in transitional seasons, and I know many people who use it in summertime as well, so it is pretty hard to go wrong with Eros in terms of weather, so I believe it can be used at any time of year.
It is safe to say that Versace Eros is the perfect fragrance for clubs, dinners, dates, and other nighttime events throughout the year.
In order to get the best results with Versace Eros, how many sprays should you use?
In order to achieve optimal longevity and projection, you will need 4 to 6 sprays of Versace Eros EDT. You should apply two sprays behind your ears, two sprays in the dip of your collarbone, and one spray behind your head. If you wish to grab attention in crowded clubs, spray two sprays on your wrists as well.
I think Versace Eros is among the better fragrances I have tried and you don’t need to use that many sprays to get the best out of it. What I always recommend is not to waste precious scent, if it’s not adding on projection and longevity, which Eros does.
In case you have newer batches of Eros, then perhaps you should apply around seven sprays for optimal performance, just in case the concentration of the spray has been decreased as a result of the reformulated formula.
In case you are interested in how to properly apply any fragrance, then you can check out this post where I explain more about how to get the best results from every fragrance that you apply.
What are the best places to buy Versace Eros EDT?
The Versace Eros EDT can be purchased at a local perfumery that sells Versace perfumes as an authorized retailer. However, if you plan to buy online, you can also find it on FragranceNet and Amazon.
I don’t have to tell you what the best shopping option would be, and that is to visit a local perfumery, test the fragrance on your skin, and see if it’s something that you can fall in love with.
In terms of buying fragrances online, I would personally recommend FragranceNet, since that’s where I buy all of my scents personally, and they’re pretty trustworthy, and you can rest assured that you’ll receive the original scent. FragranceNet also offers fast and safe shipping, and you can rest assured you’ll receive the original fragrance.
The option of buying it from Amazon is also a good one if you want it fast (and you’re a Prime member).
There are a number of other places where you can purchase it, including FragranceX, Sephora and Walmart
As far as the FDA is concerned, this fragrance is among the safest when it comes to the human skin since it has been approved and tested by the FDA on human skin.
Packages

As the first of the Eros collection, Versace Eros EDT is presented in a turquoise blue bottle which has the look and feel of Greek culture all over it, showcasing the logo of the brand in the middle, as well as the name of the fragrance beneath it.
As you can see in the photo, the cap matches the theme and has a Versace, golden logo on top, which adds to the chic look.
The whole appearance of Eros reveals the initial inspiration that it is based on, and I like how the design follows that same idea. It looks cool, stylish, unique, and mannish, and I look forward to seeing it on my bedroom shelf.
As well as Eros EDT, two other fragrances follow the same style, with the Eros EDP coming in a bottle that is almost identical to the Eros EDT as well as the Eros Flame which brings a fiery, Greek vibe with a red bottle.
It is available in:
- Mini size of 10ml / 0.3 OZ
- 50ml / 1.7 OZ
- 100ml / 3.4 OZ
- 200ml / 6.7 OZ
Summary – Is the Versace Eros EDT Still the King of the Clubbing World?
Many of the young people today still go to Versace Eros Eau De Toilette when they want to go clubbing.
This fragrance has been called the King of the clubbing for nine years now, and I must admit that it is not surprising that even after nine years of its launch, it is still referred to as the King of the clubbing. As a result of this liquid’s delightful mythology, it became so powerful that it gave him the possibility of becoming a scent of eternity.
The issue that has appeared from the possible reformulation of the original composition is something that may turn off many Eros lovers and that’s where the alternatives come in. Rather than buying Eros EDT, I would recommend you try EDP and Eros Flame first. Both of these fragrances are amazing, and I can honestly say that they are excellent alternatives to Eros EDT if you prefer better projection and long lasting fragrances.
If you are the type of person who likes the scents you wear to be easily recognized, funny, youthful, sweet, and sexy, if you are looking for a fragrance that stands out and is sure to make any woman fall in love with it, then Eros EDT is the perfect scent for you.

While I am passionate about perfume, I live in a rural area of the Bronx, New York, far from any perfume stores that are close by. It is straightforward: I do not have any credentials to provide as the author of this blog. I just love perfume, that’s all I have to offer.
In addition to wearing male, female, and unisex fragrances, I also enjoy wearing perfumes containing woods, incense, citrus, flowers, spices, vetiver, and green notes. As well as chypre perfumes, I enjoy fragrances with oakmoss, especially chypres. Patchouli and amber are not particularly appealing to me, and with some notable exceptions, perfumes that smell very clean, oceanic, or are too sweet are not particularly appealing to me.
I also have an addiction to expensive chocolates and teas, and I spend a great deal of time browsing the Internet, reading blogs primarily written by others.
