The House of Dior frequently manages to secure a prominent position in the limelight. It appears that Dior knows just how to get people interested in their fragrances, whether we are talking about Dior Sauvage, Dior J’Adore for ladies, or any of their other scents. This is true for all of their products.
Francois Demachy is the nose behind the masterpiece that is Dior Homme Intense, which was released in 2011 (as being one of the flankers of Dior Homme). Dior Homme Intense was a flanker of Dior Homme. Dior Homme Intense continues the iris-masculine motif that was introduced with the first Dior Homme fragrance, which enjoyed a great deal of success shortly after it was introduced.
However, the House of Dior takes great pleasure in reworking their previous creations, and so in the year 2020, they updated the packaging of Dior Homme Intense. However, did they also modify the structure of the fragrance?
Someone who has been enjoying Dior Homme Intense for something like the past six years, we are going to discuss all there is to know about the fragrance, including how it smells, how it functions, and whether or not it was reformulated in the year 2020.
What Does Dior Homme Intense Smell Like?
The perfume of Dior Homme Intense is described as gourmand, sweet, and resinous, and it has an astringent, powdery texture about it. It is a clear fragrance that has a significant iris note within the formulation and a woody backbone. The iris note is the dominant one.
Dior identifies the following as the olfactory notes:
- Ambrette (musk mallow)
- Virginia Cedar
- Vetiver Dior
Homme Intense is characterized by a note of iris that is crisp, powdery, and rich. There is also a hint of earthy lavender in this note, but it is never too demanding or overbearing.
The introduction of the iris note was a significant advancement for the manly fragrance business, since it is present in all Dior Homme perfumes, at least in the older batches. Iris note often has a scent similar to that of lipstick, which is one reason why it is frequently utilised in feminine perfumes.
Even though it contains a significant amount of iris, the basic Dior Homme (2011) fragrance has a perfume that is intensely manly and seductive, and it will infuse you with a chivalrous attitude.
The same is true for the fragrance Dior Homme Intense; if you have any preconceived notions regarding the usage of iris flowers in male fragrances, you should cast them aside immediately since this fragrance is everything but feminine.
As it progresses into the middle, the fragrance maintains the first iris touch while adding pleasant undertones of pear and mud mellow.
Pear and ambretto, both of which contribute to the overall sweetness of the perfume, may be picked up, but the powderiness of the fragrance continues to take the lead role.
The last dry-down is then followed by a noticeable woody combination of cedar wood & vetiver, and the whole combination exudes an aroma that is robust, earthy, and quite pleasurable.
The way that they expertly harmonized the woody undertones with the powdery-sweet and rich beginning is something that really appeals to me. As I’ve already indicated, Dior Homme Intense is a clear fragrance. This means that it smells just as it should, that it justifies each and every note, and that it lives up to the expectations.
You will receive a lot of praises if you wear Dior Homme Intense, but you should be aware not everyone will appreciate the iris-forward aroma it gives off. Everything doesn’t matter how expertly it was mixed; some people’s noses just don’t like the way powdered fragrances feel.
What is the longevity of the Dior Homme Intense fragrance?
Dior Homme Intense has a longevity of up to 9–10 hours and projects beautifully for the first 2 hours after application.
It is a strong aroma that trails gorgeous traces behind you for around two to three feet.
The duration of Dior Homme Intense is just another one of its many admirable qualities. For the first two or even three hours after application, the fragrance will develop nicely around you, and during this time, you will receive the majority of the comments.
After the first burst of scent, it will settle in close to the surface of the skin, but everyone who comes into close proximity to you will be able to notice it.
After around 5 or 6 hours, the fragrance transforms into a more private perfume, while it will continue to be detectable for an another few hours.
The whole Homme range is well-known because to its excellent performance, which is also what the vast majority of customers look for in a product.
Obviously, the amount of time a scent lasts relies largely on a variety of elements, the most important of which is the condition of your skin, both in terms of hygiene and general type. Make sure you check out the previous section where we discussed how to extend the duration of the scent of your perfume on your skin.
When Should One Use the Dior Homme Intense Fragrance?
The optimum time to wear Dior Homme Intense is during the cooler months of winter or fall, when the temperatures are lower and the fragrance has a better chance of opening up correctly. It can be worn to any event that takes place in the evening.
When compared to the other fragrances in the portfolio, Dior Homme Intense is not the most adaptable fragrance option available. Dior Homme 2020 and 2011 are two of our fragrances that are quite adaptable and may be worn to a wide variety of occasions. The Dior Homme Intense fragrance does not lean in that direction.
On the other hand, Dior Homme Intense is a fantastic option for the chillier months of the year, such as fall and winter, as well as some of the chillier nights of spring. On days when the temperature is higher than normal, you should probably avoid donning it because of the sweet, dense, and woody composition it has.
In terms of the settings, Dior Homme Intense is an excellent choice for any nighttime activities; from intimate dinner dates to late-night clubbing, the fragrance is well-suited for practically any setting imaginable.
There is no doubt about it — it will unquestionably adhere to the tuxedo style. Many people claimed that this magnificent fragrance is the greatest fragrance to wear when wearing a tuxedo. However, even if you don’t have a lot of events that require tuxedos, that’s not a problem – you can wear this beautiful fragrance to any kind of nighttime event.
Keep in mind that it won’t open and function correctly at temps that high because it can’t handle the heat. If you want to avoid making people around you feel as like they are being suffocated by the perfume, make sure to only wear it when the temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit).
How Many Sprays of Dior Homme Intense Are Necessary to Get the Full Effect?
It just takes about 5 or 6 sprays of the Dior Homme Intense perfume to achieve the full effect of this fragrance.
Dior Homme Intense is a concentrated EDP fragrance, but just five or six sprays are needed to bring out the fragrance’s fullest potential. You can spray it twice behind your ears, once in the hollow of your collarbone, twice on each wrist, and one behind your head. Alternatively, you can spray it in the hollow of your collarbone.
I find that Dior Homme Intense is a fragrance that can be overapplied, and because it isn’t a mass-appealing beast, you should definitely avoid applying too many sprays all at once. Since it isn’t a mass-appealing beast, I find that it is a scent that can be overapplied.
It is important not to use more than one spray on the very same location because doing so would prevent the aroma from going through its natural opening process. It is always best to reapply the fragrance a few hours later, once you have the impression that it has lost some of its potency.
You can always find how and how to correctly apply fragrance for optimal performance by reading the guide that we have previously written. Regardless of the situation, you have that option.
Has the recipe for Dior Homme Intense Been Modified?
Dior Homme Intense has not really been reformulated as of the time this article was written (June 2022). There were rumors’ circulating in 2020 that the recipe had been altered, but in truth, the only thing that had changed was the appearance of the bottle.
Everyone, like myself, thought that they decided to reformulate it in 2020 because Dior wanted to change the packing materials of the Dior Homme Intense version, which wouldn’t have been surprising given that they have done it before. In 2020, Dior chose to change the packaging of the Dior Homme Intense version.
You will undoubtedly run into someone who will tell you that they have both the 2011 and 2020 versions of the game and that they are very different from one another. This is the rationale behind why that is.
If you have owned a bottle of Dior Homme Intense over several years now (and you have used it at least once), the years of corrosion have changed the way that it smelled when it was first opened. The bottle now only contains the heavier molecules because the lighter molecules have evaporated.
Because of this, your bottle of Dior Homme Intense 2011 will not be identical to the “new” version that will be released in 2020, as the only difference between the two will be the packaging.
On the other hand, in this narrative, the original formulation of ordinary Dior Homme has been altered, whilst Dior Homme Intense has just seen a change in design.
Where Can I Purchase the Dior Homme Intense Fragrance?
If you want to order it online, the most reliable places to do so are FragranceNet, FragranceX, and Amazon. You can purchase Dior Homme Intense at perfumeries that are authorized resellers of Dior’s house; however, if you want to purchase it in-store, you can do so at authorized resellers of Dior’s house.
Because Dior Homme Intense is not an easily likeable fragrance, it is recommended that you perform a patch test before applying it to your skin. You can go to Dior’s website if you want to find out the location of the nearest boutique that sells their products, but you can’t really purchase anything from them through their website.
On the other hand, if you read this review and conclude that purchasing this item without first trying it would be a wise decision, the following are a few online retailers where you can do so.
If you do decide to make the purchase online, I strongly suggest going with FragranceNet because they are one of the most reliable and reputable internet retailers.
There is no question that you will be receiving an authentic bottle there because that is where I obtain all of my perfumes and aromas. In addition to that, they typically provide pretty fantastic deals, so you never know if you’ll end up getting one of those!
Amazon is another another reliable supplier, in addition to FragranceNet.com. This scent is not currently sold on Amazon by a reputable vendor; however, as long as they get this back in stock, I will provide a link to it here on this page.
Please ensure that you read the page in which we discuss the websites at which it is possible to purchase fragrances online in a secure manner.
On each of these websites, the costs will be different, but the shipment timeframes will also be variable.
The most essential point is that if you order from reputable sites, you can have peace of mind knowing that you will obtain the genuine fragrance and will not be taken advantage of by being sold counterfeit versions.
When purchasing fragrances online, you should always exercise extreme caution to avoid falling victim to a con and purchasing a fake fragrance. If you do this, you will not only run the risk of having your money stolen, but you also run the risk of developing a skin condition because fake perfumes are not checked on human skin and are not safe to use.
The packaging for Dior Homme Intense is of the matte black kind and is of the sophisticated type. The front of the box bears the etched brand name of the scent.
The actual liquid is packaged in a bottle with the Homme brand name on it; the bottle is see-through but has a little tinge of darkness to it, whilst the colour of the juice is a deep orange that verges on brown.
The fragrance comes in a bottle with a massive black cover, and the word Dior is inscribed on the atomizer itself.
To say the least, the overall look is quite sophisticated, lavish, and potent; it is clean and simple but rich, and it adequately warrants the “intense” iteration.
The fragrance is offered in the following three sizes:
50ml (1.7 oZ)
100ml (3.4 oZ)
150ml (5 oZ)
Is Dior Homme Intense Worth the Price?
Taking into account not only its exclusivity, effectiveness, and aroma, but also its cost, Dior Homme Intense is unquestionably deserving of a spot in any man’s collection.
Dior has succeeded in producing the ideal fragrance for a cavalier; it is a perfume that will convey a tale of elegance and status, but it can be purchased for the same cost as a regular designer fragrance.
So someone with no or little experience just wouldn’t actually be able to see how this fragrance is a genuine piece of art, I would not say that this fragrance would fit into beginner-friendly perfumes (like Dior Sauvage for example). Instead, I would say that this perfume does not belong in the category of beginner-friendly fragrances. This does not mean that you shouldn’t get it if you have far less experience; if you want to try, feel free to do so; however, keep in mind that you will have a much better understanding of this perfume after you’ve tried quite a few different perfumes.
In either case, Dior Homme Intense is undeniably a fragrance that practically every collector ought to have in their collection, even though it is not suitable for everyone who puts perfume on their skin.
What are your impressions of the Dior Homme Intense fragrance?
Why not we discuss this in the comments?
Ian Gary I am a passionate lover of perfume, however I currently reside in a rural area of the Bronx, New York, which is quite a distance from any nearby perfume shops. If you’re curious about the credentials I bring to the table as the author of this blog, the answer is straightforward: I have none. I just like perfume.
I like to mix between wearing men’s, women’s, and unisex fragrances. Woods, incense, citrus, flowers, spices, vetiver, and green notes are some of my absolute favourites in fragrance. I have a strong preference for chypre fragrances, as well as anything else that contains oakmoss. I am not really fond of patchouli or amber, and with a few notable exceptions, I don’t particularly care for perfumes that are very “clean,” oceanic smells, or overly sweet gourmand-dessert type perfumes.
I also have a serious problem with expensive chocolates and teas, and I waste a significant amount of time online, where I primarily read the blogs of other people.
